Supplementary data and figures

This file contains an annotated list of independent origins of parasitism in Animalia, derived from an extensive search of available literature. Monophyletic parasite groups for which the closest free-living relatives are known are listed in an additional table, including species and genera counts and estimated age of divergence for each pair. The file also contains the approximately 300 references used to identify parasite clades and compare species diversity between parasite and free-living sister groups.
