This dataset reports changes in population densities of the root-lesion nematode, Pratylenchus thornei following a set-up phrase in which differential populations of the root-lesion nematode, P. thornei, were established in a factorial design by growing two wheat cultivars: one moderately resistant (cv. QT8343) and the other susceptible (cv. Kennedy). In the following season, for the mungbean experiments, nine cultivars of mungbean, one blackgram cv. Regur, and one soybean cv. Bunya were planted; a fallow treatment was also included. Soil samples were taken from every plot before planting and after harvest in Year 2 to determine P. thornei populations at 0–30 cm soil depth by the DNA-test offered by PREDICTA B; nematodes were also assessed "manually" to 90 cm soil depth using the Whitehead tray method and enumeration under a microscope. For the 2014-2015 experiment only, wheat cv. Lincoln was planted on the trial site in 2015 and yield was determined.
