Food system emissions reductions in the UK 2008-2018, by segment

Food emissions in the United Kingdom fell 13 percent between 2008 and 2018. This was less than half the rate at which emissions from the wider economy fell, which was 32 percent. The slow reductions during this period were due to agriculture and fertilizer manufacturing emissions not falling at all. However, the change in clean energy and efficiency resulted in emissions reductions in other food segments. Food manufacturing emissions were reduced by roughly five percent between 2008 and 2018, while home related food emissions decreased by three percent.
