Primary data was gathered from 383 owners or managers of agribusiness SMEs in the study sites of Kiambu and Kajiado utilizing a multi-stage stratified sampling approach. The two Counties, Kiambu and Kajiado, were divided into 15 sub-counties and 19 towns, which were purposively selected for the study. Individual SMEs were then randomly chosen based on their willingness to participate and the inclusion of the 3 key business types: trading, manufacturing, and food service. The primary objective of the study was to investigate the weather-related risks that significantly impact these businesses, as well as the expenses related to weather impacts and adaptation responses incurred by these enterprises. Trained enumerators collected the data in December 2021 in Kajiado, and in January and February 2022 in Kiambu. Data consists of the attributes of the entrepreneur, the enterprise, and the SME environment, as well as the costs of the weather risks and of the responses taken.
