DNA from samples collected from the RUSITEC system on experimental day 15 was sent for shotgun metagenomics at Génome Québec (Montréal, QC, Canada). These samples were sequenced on an Illumina NovaSeq6000 platform, also generating 2 x 150 bp pair-ended reads. Sequences were trimmed with Trimmomatic v0.39 and assembled using metaSPAdes v3.13.0. Assembled contigs were binned using the MetaWRAP v1.3.2 binning and bin-refinement pipeline, using CONCOCT v1.1.0, Maxbin2 v2.2.6, and Metabat2 v2.12.1. Bins were dereplicated using dRep v3.2.2 and filtered for 50% completion and under 10% contamination. MAGs were annotated using dbCAN v3.0.7 and Bakta v1.9.3.
