The goal of this study is to elucidate the functions of proteins involved in modulating the cell wall of the pathogen Acinetobacter baumannii. The pathways that become required for growth in the absence of each protein were identified to identify leads on their function. This was achieved by Tn-seq analysis of dense mariner transposon banks constructed in ElsL-and Ldt- mutant strains of ATCC 17978. Knowledge of the function of these proteins can facilitate development of improved strategies for treatment of A. baumannii infections.
本研究旨在阐明参与调控鲍曼不动杆菌(Acinetobacter baumannii)病原体细胞壁的蛋白质功能。为探明此类蛋白质的功能,研究人员通过鉴定单一蛋白缺失条件下细菌生长所必需的通路,以获取功能研究线索。本研究通过对ATCC 17978菌株的ElsL缺失突变株与Ldt缺失突变株构建的高密度mariner转座子文库开展Tn-seq分析,达成了上述研究目标。对上述蛋白质功能的解析,可助力开发更为优化的鲍曼不动杆菌感染治疗策略。
