Configural learning by cleaner fish in a complex biological market task - data files In the attached files: fish = cleaner ID treatment = the treatment group (complex market or simple market) to which the fish belonged choice = the binary choice made by the fish in the designated trial. It equals 1 when a visitor plate is chosen, and 0 when the cleaners chooses the resident plate. VR_trial = VR (visitor-resident) trial number day = experimental day in which the trial was conducted V_plate_type = the visitor plate type (color pattern) used with the individual cleaner File 1: Experiment 1_VR_trialsCleaners' choices in the VR (visitor-resident) trials of experiment 1. round = experimental phase (first or second) File 2: Experiment_2_test._VR_trials Cleaners' choices in the VR (visitor-resident) trials of the test phase of experiment 2 File 3: Experiment_2_solvers The visitor preferences of cleaners that were tested in the additional test phase. test_v and test2_V refer to the number of vistor choices in the test phase and in the additional test (test 2) V_preference columns refer to the proportion of visitor choice in the relevant test start_prior_Vpref = the preferences of cleaners with "solving potential" at the beginning of the prior training phase (first 40 trials) end_prior_Vpref = the preferences of cleaners with "solving potential" at the end of the prior training phase (last 40 trials) File 4: Experiment_2_prior_phaseCleaners' choices in the VR (visitor-resident) trials at the beginning and end of the initial training phase (40 first and 40 last VR trials) of experiment 2. experimental trials = refers to the first 40 or last 40 VR trials of the experiment R = number of choices of the resident plate V = number of choices of the visitor plate preference = the proportion of V plate choice
