Flavonoids, a diverse group of plant-derived polyphenolic compounds, have garnered considerable attention for their neuroprotective properties, particularly in relation to cognitive impairment and memory loss. This systematic review explores the current body of evidence on the role of flavonoids in preventing or mitigating amnesia. Drawing from preclinical and clinical studies, the review highlights the mechanisms by which flavonoids exert their protective effects, including antioxidant activity, anti-inflammatory action, modulation of signaling pathways such as ERK and PI3K/Akt, and enhancement of synaptic plasticity. The review also discusses specific flavonoid subclasses—such as flavonols, flavanones, and anthocyanins—and their sources, including fruits, vegetables, and medicinal herbs. Findings suggest that regular intake of flavonoid-rich foods or supplements may improve memory retention and reduce the progression of neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer’s disease. However, the review emphasizes the need for well-designed human trials to confirm these benefits and to determine optimal dosing strategies. Overall, this work consolidates the current scientific understanding of flavonoids as promising agents in the prevention and management of amnesia.
