Attitudes Towards Development Cooperation, 2013

The results of the survey show high support for development aid in Norway. 82 per cent supports aid for Asia, Africa and Latin-America. This is a slight decrease from the survey in 2010, but the support has been stable for a long period. Between eight and nine out of ten has supported aid for these countries in all surveys after 1993. Statistics Norway have carried out surveys on peoples attitudes towards development cooperation several times. In addition to 2013, surveys were conducted in 1972, 1974, 1977, 1980, 1983, 1986, 1990, 1993,1995, 1996, 1999, 2001, 2006 and 2013. The surveys have been commissioned by the Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD). Topics in the survey includes: - Attitudes to the aid given to various parts of the world. - Attitudes to the size of the aid that is given. - Judgements on how effective the aid is. - An assessment of the type of development aid that gives the best results. - Familiarity with development organizations - The respondents evaluation of NORAD aid work. - Interest of development aid news in media. - Knowledge of the countries Norway have development aid cooperation with - Knowledge of the situation in developing countries.
