Campbell Hollow, IL (11ST144) Fauna dataset 1/4" screen

The Campbell Hollow site (11ST144) is located in the lower Illinois River valley in Scott Country, Illinois. Late Woodland remains were primarily encountered in the plow zone, and two buried Archaic components were excavated in 1980 and 1981. Early and Middle Archaic remains were buried by over 2 m of sediment at the toe of colluvial slope on the east side of the Illinois River valley near the entrance of a small stream (Campbell Hollow Creek) into the main valley. The Archaic encampments are located at the base of the south facing bluffs in Campbell Hollow about 0.2 km east of the Illinois River valley. Only screened Archaic faunal remains are included in this database. Cultural remains in the Middle Archaic component were piece-plotted, and sediments were were dry-screened through 1/4" mesh. The more deeply buried Early Archaic component was screened through 1/4" mesh. Sediments between the two components were screened through 1/2 mesh or not screened until within 10-15 cm of the cultural deposits. Mona Colburn (Illinois State Museum) identified the faunal remains using the Illinois State Museum's Comparative Faunal Collections and conducted the analyses.

坎贝尔霍洛遗址（编号11ST144）坐落于美国伊利诺伊州斯科特县境内的伊利诺伊河下游河谷区域。伍德兰晚期（Late Woodland）遗存主要发现于耕土层中，两处埋藏的阿卡迪亚期（Archaic）遗存单元分别于1980年和1981年被发掘。早阿卡迪亚期与中阿卡迪亚期的遗存被埋藏于伊利诺伊河河谷东侧一处小型溪流——坎贝尔霍洛溪（Campbell Hollow Creek）汇入主河谷的入口附近的坡积斜坡坡脚处，其上堆积厚度超过2米的沉积物。阿卡迪亚期营地遗址位于坎贝尔霍洛区域内朝南断崖的底部，距离伊利诺伊河河谷东侧约0.2公里。本数据库仅收录经过筛析处理的阿卡迪亚期动物遗存。中阿卡迪亚期遗存单元的文化遗存均经过逐件点位标定，沉积物采用1/4英寸网孔的干筛法进行筛选。埋藏更深的早阿卡迪亚期遗存单元同样采用1/4英寸网孔进行筛析。两处遗存单元之间的沉积物，仅在距文化遗存10至15厘米范围内时采用1/2英寸网孔筛析，其余区域未进行筛检。莫娜·科尔本（伊利诺伊州立博物馆，Illinois State Museum）依托伊利诺伊州立博物馆的动物标本对比馆藏，完成了这批动物遗存的鉴定与分析工作。
