EMAP Buckaroo – LA 70259 Unit 10, 11, 12, 1989-1990

Units 10, 11, and 12 are arbitrarily picked bounded units extramurally located off the southern wall of the Buckaroo site. Units 10 and 11 (Loci 1 & 2) are symmetrical 1 meter x 2 meter quads oriented adjacently on an east to west axis. Unit 12 (Loci 1,2,3, & 4) began as a 1 meter x 3 meter unit (Locus 1) running lengthwise east to west along the Buckaroo’s southern wall, attached along unit 12’s southern boundary, then, were Units 10, 11 (Loci 1 & 2). Loci 2 & 3 of unit 12, then, were locus extensions, northerly, in an attempt to encounter the boundary limits of the Buckaroo’s southern most pueblo/room wall. Locus 2 was an extension of approximately .25 m north toward the pueblo wall, and Locus 3 was a second extension northward .08 m, again in a successful attempt at discovering the pueblo wall. Both Locus extensions were initiated when Locus 1 of Unit 12 was unsuccessful at finding the pueblo wall, exactly three levels into excavation. Both Loci 2& 3 were taken in .13 m levels down to the then present base of excavation of Locus 1.

第10、11、12号发掘单元为随机选取的位于巴克鲁（Buckaroo）遗址南墙外侧的发掘单元。第10、11号探方（对应发掘层位1、2）为对称布设的1米×2米方形探方，沿东西向轴线相邻排布。第12号探方（对应发掘层位1、2、3、4）初始为1米×3米的发掘单元（发掘层位1），沿巴克鲁遗址南墙呈东西向纵向布设，依附于自身南部边界；后续布设的相邻发掘单元为第10、11号探方（对应发掘层位1、2）。随后，第12号探方的发掘层位2与3为向北拓展的发掘区域，旨在探明巴克鲁遗址最南端普韦布洛（pueblo）房址墙体的边界。其中，发掘层位2向北延伸约0.25米至普韦布洛墙体处，发掘层位3则在此基础上继续向北推进0.08米，最终成功探明该房址墙体。上述两处延伸发掘均启动于第12号探方发掘层位1发掘至恰好3层仍未找到房址墙体之时。发掘层位2与3均以0.13米为一层的发掘深度向下作业，直至当时发掘层位1的现存发掘基底。
