This file provides supplementary material for the publication "Compact and hot? – Analyzing the influence of urban form on surface urban heat islands in Europe" by Nina Schwarz and Ameur M. Manceur, submitted to the Journal of the American Planning Association and under review. The data set gives data on the surface urban heat island of 274 Larger Urban Zones in Europe, quantifyed using three different indicators and two points in time (morning and evening heat islands for June/July/August 2001). The aim of the study was to identify predictors for explaining the surface urban heat island for these urban regions.
