This study introduces the Fecal Microbiota Transplantation Database (FMTdb), a pioneering resource developed to enhance our understanding of fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) and its role in treating gastrointestinal disorders, especially refractory Clostridium difficile infections. The FMTdb brings together extensive data from a diverse range of participants, including community individuals, FMT donors, and recipients, creating a rich platform for investigating the gut microbiome's influence on human health. Our approach involved meticulous donor selection and recipient enrollment processes, along with detailed data collection. Donors were rigorously screened medically, and their fecal samples were analyzed for microbial composition. Recipients, chosen for their various gastrointestinal ailments, underwent microbial fluid transplants. The outcomes and clinical indicators of these procedures were closely monitored and fed into the FMTdb. This database, equipped with advanced bioinformatics tools, allows for an in-depth examination of gut microbiota dynamics and their implications.A key finding from our research is the notable variability in FMT's effectiveness, highlighting the necessity of personalized treatment plans. By analyzing donor and recipient microbiota, the FMTdb provides critical insights into treatment outcomes and potential therapeutic targets, including the influence of gut microbiota on immune modulation. This can have far-reaching implications for immune-related disorders. The FMTdb is not just a repository of data; it is an analytical tool that offers targeted search options, comprehensive browsing, and data visualization features. Our study underscores the importance of considering both donor and recipient characteristics in FMT and advocates for customized treatment approaches. The FMTdb represents a significant stride forward in microbiota research, offering valuable insights into the complexities and potential of FMT, thereby contributing substantially to scientific discourse and clinical progress in the field of microbiota transplantation. This release represents the first part of our data, encompassing 500 samples of 16S rRNA v4 sequencing.
