This is a painted and treated terracotta sculpture created in 1874 by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux (Valenciennes, 1827 - Courbeville, 1875). Carpeaux appropriated the subject of the art piece 'La Danse (the dance)', it was used as a large high-relief for the opera of Paris opened in 1869. This charming statuette of is representative of the productions of the workshop Carpeaux , told the brother and the artist's father to take multiple copies the sale and whose income is living the fault. Carpeaux editions contribute to the dissemination of the work of the master , and well after his early death. The three nude woman, symbols of beauty, arts and fertility, stand together in a line in a composition to signify their alliance. The marble, lifesize piece was created in the 11th Century AD, discovered in Rome on mount Caelius. The piece is based on a previous artwork produced in the hellentistic period (330-30 BC) that can be found at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
