We directly compared thermal cameras and traditional spotlights in vehicle‐based surveys for detecting small, cryptic endotherms at night. Thermal cameras provide improved detection rates and detection distances under a range of vegetation structures compared to spotlights, while causing less disturbance to roosting animals.本研究在夜间车载调查中，直接对比了热成像相机（thermal camera）与传统聚光灯对小型隐蔽恒温动物的检测效果。相较于传统聚光灯，热成像相机在多种植被结构条件下可提升检测率与检测距离，同时对栖息动物的干扰程度更低。
