It is a model organism for studying the role of miRNAs in stem cell function. Next generation sequencing technology was used to identify the miRNAs of D. japonica. Bioinformatic analysis showed that 262 miRNA and miRNA* sequences were discovered, of which 102 miRNAs were the same as Schmidtea mediterranea (S. mediterranea) and 160 miRNAs were related to other animals. To identify the functional small RNAs during planarian regeneration, we collected 5 sample, which were whole body, head part, tail part, left part and right part of planarians. Each sample needed about 50 planarians and they were collected from a mountain creek in Zibo, Shandong Province.

该生物是研究微小RNA(miRNAs)在干细胞功能中作用的模式生物。本研究采用下一代测序技术对日本三角涡虫(D. japonica)的miRNAs进行鉴定。生物信息学分析结果显示,共鉴定得到262条miRNA及miRNA*序列,其中102条与地中海涡虫(Schmidtea mediterranea, S. mediterranea)的miRNA一致,另有160条与其他动物的miRNA具有相关性。为鉴定涡虫再生过程中发挥功能的小RNA,本研究采集了5组涡虫样本,分别为涡虫的完整躯体、头部、尾部、左侧躯体及右侧躯体。每组样本需约50只涡虫,所有涡虫均采集自山东省淄博市的一处山间溪流。
