Rib eye area is one of the important indexes to evaluate carcass quality. But the genetic gain of rib eye area remains sluggish. Most breeding methods of rib eye area are conventional that will lead to a large generation interval, reduced breeding efficiency. And few studies on its genetic mechanism have been reported. The new way of breeding will gradually transform the problem of rib eye area in breeding with the development of genomics in recents year. This research estimated the genetic potential of rib eye area. And we sought to provide useful candidate genes for the genetic improvement of rib eye area using whole genome sequencing analysis in Hu sheep.

眼肌面积(rib eye area)是评估畜禽胴体品质的重要指标之一。然而当前眼肌面积的遗传进展仍较为迟缓。目前多数针对眼肌面积的选育方法均为传统选育手段,这类方法会导致世代间隔过长,降低选育效率,且有关其遗传机制的研究报道相对匮乏。近年来,随着基因组学的发展,新型育种方式正逐步解决眼肌面积选育中存在的问题。本研究以湖羊为研究对象,通过全基因组测序(whole genome sequencing)分析,评估了眼肌面积的遗传潜力,并旨在为眼肌面积的遗传改良提供有效的候选基因。
