Cultural Resources Survey of the Road S-104/Horse Creek Bridge Replacement Project, Aiken County, South Carolina

"The Department proposes to replace the existing 90 by 26-foot obsolete bridge, built in 1968, with a modern reinforced concrete flat slab bridge 100 feet in length and having a 44-foot clear roadway width. The new bridge is expected to be supported on cast-in-place reinforced concrete bent caps and pre-stressed concrete pile foundations. The existing bridge will be removed and the new roadway section will be placed on the existing horizontal alignment and the vertical alignment will be raised approximately two feet. The approach roadway section will be 24 feet of pavement with lO-foot shoulders (four feet paved and six feet grassed). Approach work will include the necessary embankments for shoulders to accommodate guardrail placement and for approach slabs and surfacing work to tie the new bridge to the existing roadway. The road will be closed and traffic detoured during construction. The present right of way is 75 feet (37.5 feet each side). The proposed new right of way will be 150 feet (75 feet each side) in the vicinity of the bridge. This new right of way will be approximately 315 feet in length on the east side and 170 feet on the west side."

本部门拟拆除建于1968年的现有90英尺×26英尺老旧桥梁，新建一座长度100英尺、净车道宽度44英尺的现代化钢筋混凝土平板桥（reinforced concrete flat slab bridge）。新桥将采用现浇钢筋混凝土盖梁（cast-in-place reinforced concrete bent caps）及预应力混凝土桩基础（pre-stressed concrete pile foundations）作为支承结构。现有桥梁将被拆除，新建路段将沿用既有平面线形，纵断面线形则将抬升约2英尺。引道路段的铺装路面宽度为24英尺，配套设置10英尺宽的路肩（其中4英尺为铺装路肩，6英尺为草皮路肩）。引道工程还需修筑用于安装护栏的路肩路堤，以及用于将新桥与既有道路衔接的引道板铺装作业。施工期间道路将封闭并实施交通绕行。现有道路用地红线（right of way）宽度为75英尺（两侧各37.5英尺）。桥梁周边拟新增的道路用地红线宽度为150英尺（两侧各75英尺），其中东侧新增用地长度约315英尺，西侧约170英尺。
