Study 2 - The effect of 2-week sugar stress with and without probiotic supplements on oral homeostasis - a randomized double-blind clinical trial

235 samples wereselected for 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing targeting the bacterial variable regions V1-3, sequencing at a depth of approximately 100,000 raw reads/sample. The 235 samples are part of a 5 week double-blindedrandomized intervention study, characterizing how the microbial community composition of saliva is affectedby frequent sugar consumption. The study was carried out with different interventions (sucrose or xylitolsupplement) for both a placebo group and a group supplemented probiotics.
