When two oral bacteria are allowed to grow together, they physically interact and adhere among themselves to display specific recognition patterns. This recognition between genetically distinct cells in suspension and resultant clumping is called coaggregation. These intergenic pairings called dual biofilms are important in the sequential formation of oral biofilms. So, our study is limited to dual biofilms. coaggregation lead to specific gene regulation responses. Mutualistic interactions allow growth of mixed species communities. This study aimed to explore the impact of coaggregation between S. gordonii and S. oralis in human saliva on the gene expression in each partner. Understanding responses to coaggregation will provide important insights into how these species adapt as they interact with one another during the formation of oral biofilms.
