BeDuhn’s Greek Reconstruction of Marcion’s Gospel

These datasets release and introduce a new Greek version of Marcion’s Evangelion based on the 2013 reconstruction of Jason BeDuhn that was presented only in English. Three formats are provided to accommodate various use cases. All files follow the normalization standards used for Evangelion datasets published in JOHD in 2021. Here the primary reconstruction is deposited as a digital text in PDF-A format, including pagination, footnotes, and a robust critical apparatus. The accompanying UTF-8 txt files consist of a plain text, human- and machine-readable version, and a text with full lemmatization, part of speech, and morphological tagging following the BGM schema. Originally published prior to several major Greek reconstructions, BeDuhn’s English reconstruction is here transformed into Greek, thoroughly updated, and carefully situated within recent scholarly efforts to reconstruct the earliest retrievable Greek text of Marcion’s Evangelion using traditional methods and data science.
