Previous studies have shown serotonin and indole downregulate expression of virulence genes in EHEC, here we demonstrate the combinatorial effect of serotonin and indole on EHEC transcriptome Overall design: EHEC strain 86 24 was used for this study. WT EHEC was grown with 10 µM serotonin, 500 µM indole or both of them together in low-glucose DMEM until late log phase under aerobic conditions. RNA was extracted from these samples. The experiment was conducted with three biological replicates.

既往研究表明,5-羟色胺(serotonin)与吲哚(indole)可下调肠出血性大肠杆菌(Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli,EHEC)的毒力基因表达,本研究则阐明二者对EHEC转录组的联合调控效应。实验设计:本研究采用EHEC菌株86 24。将野生型(wild type,WT)EHEC分别接种于添加10 μM 5-羟色胺、500 μM 吲哚,以及二者联合的低糖杜氏改良伊格尔培养基(low-glucose DMEM)中,于有氧条件下培养至对数生长后期。收集各样本并提取总RNA。本实验设置3次生物学重复。
