The South Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation Basin-wide Array (SAMBA) Monitoring Line in the South-East Atlantic Ocean was conducted on the RS Algoa Voyage 237 from 04 April 2017 to 12 April 2017. The cruise operated from Slangkop, off Cape Town, westwards to 15° E, in the South Atlantic Ocean along the SAMBA transect. The objectives of the cruise were to recover, service and re-deploy five (5) Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP) moorings (1 x shelf mooring and 4 tall moorings); complete 3 Conductivity, Temperature, Depth (CTD) 1000m depth casts for the calibration of the SeaBird SBE37 sensors deployed on the moorings along the SAMBA transect; collect underway Thermosalinograph (TSG); Surface Photosynthetically Active Radiation (SPAR) and Ship-mounted Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (S-ADCP) data. Lastly, 4 Argo floats were deployed to enhance the Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS) of Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) in the South Atlantic Ocean ARGO float program.
2017年4月4日至2017年4月12日,“阿尔戈号(RS Algoa)237航次”完成了东南大西洋海域的南大西洋经向翻转环流全海盆阵列(South Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation Basin-wide Array, SAMBA)监测断面科考作业。本航次从开普敦近海的斯兰科普(Slangkop)出发,沿SAMBA监测断面向西航行,抵达南大西洋15°E海域。
本航次的科考目标包括:回收、维护并重新布放5套声学多普勒流速剖面仪(Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler, ADCP)锚系潜标(含1套陆架型锚系潜标与4套深水型锚系潜标);完成3次1000米水深的电导率-温度-深度(Conductivity, Temperature, Depth, CTD)剖面观测,以校准沿SAMBA监测断面锚系潜标上部署的SeaBird SBE37型传感器;采集走航式盐温深仪(Thermosalinograph, TSG)、表层光合有效辐射(Surface Photosynthetically Active Radiation, SPAR)以及船载声学多普勒流速剖面仪(Ship-mounted Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler, S-ADCP)的观测数据。此外,本航次还布放了4个Argo浮标,以助力政府间海洋学委员会(Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission, IOC)主导的南大西洋Argo浮标计划,完善全球海洋观测系统(Global Ocean Observing System, GOOS)。
