Effects of Varying Light Intensities and Temperature Levels on the Growth of Gracilaria spp. Under Laboratory Condition

This study aims to evaluate the best combination of light intensities and temperature levels on the growth of Gracilaria spp. Specifically, it aims to determine the significant interaction effect between light intensities and temperature levels on the growth of Gracilaria spp. under laboratory conditions. The Experimental set-up was conducted at College of Fisheries Laboratory and Research Station (CFLRS) in Brgy. Siguel, General Santos City for a period of 60 days. Eighteen (18) 3.5L glass tanks were used as experimental units and was stocked with 3g of Gracilaria spp. The study tested for six treatments with varying light intensity and temperature levels The data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA and comparison between significant difference and interaction were analyzed using post-hoc test (Tukey’s HSD). After the experiment, the highest mean body weight of Gracilaria spp. was obtained from Treatment III, with recorded value of 4.67g. Meanwhile, results also demonstrated that Treatment III obtained the highest weight gain with 1.67g. Likewise Similarly, Treatment III recorded the highest specific growth rate with 0.32% per day. Statistical analysis revealed that light intensity has a significant effect (p<0.05) and that there is no significant effect (p>0.05) on temperature. On the other hand, there is a significant interaction (p<0.0.5) between light intensity and temperature on the growth of Gracilaria spp. (MW, MWG, and SGR) after 60 days of culture. The study concluded that the best growth of Gracilaria spp. can be achieved of water at light intensity of 120 m-2 s-1 and temperature 30°C under laboratory condition.

本研究旨在评估光照强度与温度水平的最优组合对龙须菜属(Gracilaria spp.)生长的影响,具体为明确实验室条件下光照强度与温度水平的交互效应对龙须菜属生长的显著作用。实验装置设于桑托斯市西盖尔村渔业学院实验室与研究站(College of Fisheries Laboratory and Research Station, CFLRS),实验周期为60天。本研究采用18个3.5L玻璃缸作为实验单元,每个缸接种3g龙须菜属样本,设置6组不同光照强度与温度水平的处理组。实验数据采用双因素方差分析(two-way ANOVA)进行统计分析,组间显著差异及交互效应的多重比较采用Tukey’s HSD事后检验(Tukey’s HSD)。实验结束后,处理组III的龙须菜属平均体重最高,记录值为4.67g;同时,处理组III的增重最高,达1.67g。同理,处理组III的比生长速率最高,为0.32%/天。统计分析结果显示,光照强度对龙须菜生长具有显著影响(p<0.05),而温度对其生长无显著影响(p>0.05)。此外,培养60天后,光照强度与温度的交互效应对龙须菜属的生长指标(体重mean body weight, MW、增重weight gain, MWG及比生长速率specific growth rate, SGR)具有显著作用(p<0.05)。本研究最终得出结论:在实验室条件下,当光照强度为120 m⁻²·s⁻¹、温度为30℃时,可实现龙须菜属的最优生长。
