Human gut microbiota have been proved to associate with multiple human chronic disease. The gut microbiota has been found associated with pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes, however the association between gut microbiota and the development of cardiovascular disease in T2D patients is not clear. By comparing the metagenomes of healthy, T2D and T2D-CVD patients, we found the enrichment of K. pneumoniae strains were associated with T2D-CVD patients by producing TMA and virulence factors.

已有研究证实,人体肠道菌群(gut microbiota)与多种人类慢性疾病存在关联。现有研究发现肠道菌群与前驱糖尿病(pre-diabetes)及2型糖尿病(type 2 diabetes,简称T2D)密切相关,但肠道菌群与2型糖尿病患者群体中心血管疾病发生发展的关联仍不明确。本研究通过对比健康人群、2型糖尿病患者以及2型糖尿病合并心血管疾病(T2D-CVD)患者的宏基因组(metagenome),发现肺炎克雷伯菌(K. pneumoniae)菌株的富集与T2D-CVD患者群体存在关联,其机制为该菌株可产生三甲胺(TMA)与毒力因子。
