Shoulder Impingement Syndrome is a common shoulder disorder, characterized by narrowed subacromial space structures, which causes pain when the patient lifts their arm or lies on the affected side. Current studies have shown that preventing obesity can reduce the incidence of shoulder-related disorders, and obesity is positively correlated with rotator cuff ligament injuries. Furthermore, Body Mass Index (BMI) can serve as a simple method for assessing the degree of obesity, as it is easily accessible and has clear classification categories. However, some studies have indicated that a high BMI can exert specific protective effects on the shoulder joint. Therefore, the causal relationship between BMI and Shoulder Impingement Syndrome requires further investigation.
