Monastery of St. John Lampadistis, Ayios Ioannis Lambadhistis Monastery

[Text Description:] Complex of 3 churches under one Roof, 11th-18th c. ❧ [Medium:] Stone ❧ [Script Note:] Greek, Non-Text ❧ [Physical Object Description:] Located on east side of stream Setrachos, running along east side of village of Kaopanayiotes. The monastery is a complex of three churches sharing a single pitched roof. Beyond the monastic enclosure is the old schoolhouse, now an icon museum. ❧ [Physical Object Note:] The three churches are: Agios Herakleidios, Ioannis Lampadistis and a Latin Chapel. Agios Herakleidios, built in the 11th c., decorated primarily in 13th c., is a cross-in-square building with four piers supporting a central dome. Ioannis Lamadistis probably built in 1731, on the north side of Herakleidios. No records exist regarding the Latin Chapel. It opens on the north side of the Lampdistis church. A narthex runs along the west side of Herakleidios and Lampadistis. ❧ [Physical Object Note:] In Agios Herakleidios, a few early paintings date to the 12th c. Most of the paintings are 13th c., with a late period series done around 1400. Ioannis Lampadistis contains a reliquary and icon of St. Ioannis (John) Lampadistis. The paintings in the Latin Chapel are Italo-Byzantine; the vaulting is Italianate. The walls north and south are illustrations of the 24 stanzas of the Akathistos Hymn to the Virgin. Some paintings are more Byzantine, others more Italian. ❧

[实物说明：] 三座教堂分别为：圣赫拉克莱迪奥斯（Agios Herakleidios）、圣约翰·兰帕迪斯蒂斯（Ioannis Lampadistis）以及一座拉丁小教堂。圣赫拉克莱迪奥斯始建于11世纪，主要装饰工程完成于13世纪，为四柱支撑中央穹顶的十字方形平面建筑（cross-in-square）。圣约翰·兰帕迪斯蒂斯教堂大概率建于1731年，位于圣赫拉克莱迪奥斯北侧。目前暂无关于这座拉丁小教堂的相关记载，其出入口设于兰帕迪斯蒂斯教堂北侧。圣赫拉克莱迪奥斯与兰帕迪斯蒂斯教堂的西侧设有一道教堂门廊（narthex）。
[实物说明：] 圣赫拉克莱迪奥斯教堂内尚存少量12世纪的早期壁画，绝大多数壁画创作于13世纪，另有一组晚期壁画完成于约1400年前后。圣约翰·兰帕迪斯蒂斯教堂内设有圣物箱（reliquary）以及圣约翰·兰帕迪斯蒂斯的圣像。拉丁小教堂内的壁画属意式拜占庭风格（Italo-Byzantine），其拱顶结构（vaulting）采用意大利式设计。教堂南北墙面绘有《阿卡特斯托斯圣母赞美诗（Akathistos Hymn）》的24节经文插画。部分壁画更偏向拜占庭风格，其余则更具意大利风格特征。
