The coral holobiont is crucial for the survival and functioning of coral reefs, making it highly important for their stability. In this holobiont, corals are associated with symbiotic algae (Symbiodinium) that live within the coral's tissues. Coral bleaching is the most common high-temperature induced event that occurs when coral colonies lose their Symbiodinium and turn pale or white. This study was designed to comprehensively explore microbial diversity and composition in healthy and bleached coral species (Porites lutea).
珊瑚共生体(coral holobiont)对珊瑚礁的存续与功能运作至关重要,是维持珊瑚礁稳定性的关键因素。在此共生体系中,珊瑚与寄居于其组织内的虫黄藻(Symbiodinium)形成稳定的共生关系。珊瑚白化是最为常见的高温诱导事件,当珊瑚群落丧失其虫黄藻(Symbiodinium)并呈现苍白或白色外观时,便会发生此类现象。本研究旨在全面探究健康与白化状态下的澄黄滨珊瑚(Porites lutea)的微生物多样性与群落组成。
