5 Burcote Road, Wood Burcote, Northamptonshire. Archaeological Watching Brief (OASIS ID: kdkarcha1-213799)

In August 2015 KDK Archaeology Ltd undertook a programme of observation and recording of 5 Burcote Road, Wood Burcote, Northamptonshire as Conditions 9.18 and 9.19 of the Planning Consent for the development of the site. After stripping the area, approximately six tree boles were observed, in addition to a previous modern soakaway. Eight archaeological features were uncovered; a cobbled pathway, a dumped deposit, and six postholes. The soakaway, the cobbled pathway, and the dumped deposit all contained modern finds, with the possibility that soakaway and dumped deposit are contemporary. The cobbled pathway may up until 1977, when the development site was amalgamated with Bank Cottage to the west. The six postholes uncovered may relate to previous structures or fence lines, although as there is no cartographic evidence for a structure in this area, an obvious arrangement, nor finds associated with any of these postholes, it is difficult to date or phase them.

2015年8月，KDK考古有限公司（KDK Archaeology Ltd）依据该地块开发项目规划许可的第9.18条及第9.19条条件，对北安普敦郡伍德伯科特的伯科特路5号开展了考古观测与记录工作。在剥离该区域地表覆盖物后，除一处已存在的现代渗沟外，还发现了约6处树干遗迹。本次共揭露8处考古遗迹：一条铺石步道、一处倾倒堆积层以及6处柱洞。该渗沟、铺石步道与倾倒堆积层均出土现代遗物，且渗沟与倾倒堆积层可能属于同一时期。铺石步道的使用时间可追溯至1977年，该年份为开发地块与西侧班克小屋（Bank Cottage）合并的时间。此次揭露的6处柱洞或与此前的建筑或栅栏线有关，但该区域既无对应建筑的测绘证据，也未发现清晰的遗迹排布，亦未出土与这些柱洞相关的遗物，因此难以对其进行断代与分期。
