This dataset contains experimental data supporting the research article "Effect of surfactant addition on the biofiltration of siloxane-contaminated gas streams" by González-Cortés et al. The study investigates the biological removal of volatile methyl siloxanes (VMS), specifically octamethyltrisiloxane (L3) and octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D4), using two independent biofilters packed with woodchips/compost (WC) and perlite (PER).
The data covers an operational period of 150 days, divided into six stages, evaluating the impact of adding a non-ionic synthetic surfactant (Tween 80) and a biological surfactant (Quillaja saponin) on the mass transfer and biodegradation of siloxanes.
