This study examines natural killer (NK) cells from severe COVID-19 patients and a healthy group, analyzing metabolic (SIRT1, AMPKA, HIF1A, GLUT1) and inflammatory (NFKB1, NFKB1A, IFNG, SOCS1) related gene expression, as well as functional markers on NK cells. Also, the expression of these genes was evaluated across different clinical contexts related to outcomes in severe COVID-19 patients. NK cells from severe COVID-19 patients showed a dysregulated metabolic gene expression associated with adverse outcomes, highlighting the involvement of metabolism in COVID-19 severity.
