Listeria monocytogenes are important foodborne pathogens responsible for the disease of listeriosis in humans. Strain Lm 3163 is a clinical isolate recovered from a patient during the 2005 Swiss listeriosis outbreak linked to contaminated cheese. The genome sequence of this strain will be used for comparative analysis with other sequenced Listeria monocytogenes genomes.
