Flash droughts, characterized by rapid-onset soil moisture deficits, can lead to more severe reductions in crop productivity compared to slow-onset droughts. However, a comprehensive understanding of flash drought impacts on crop yield remains limited, with most existing studies confined to national-scale analyses. In this study, we integrated four independent data sources—ground observations, remote sensing, process-based crop model simulations, and crop insurance records—to assess the effects of flash drought on summer crops (corn, soybean, sorghum, and spring wheat) in the United States from 1982 to 2019.

骤发性干旱(flash drought)以快速发生的土壤水分亏缺为特征,相较于缓发性干旱,其可对作物生产力造成更为严重的减产。然而,当前对骤发性干旱对作物产量影响的全面认知仍较为匮乏,绝大多数现有研究仅局限于国家尺度的分析。本研究整合了四类独立数据源——地面观测数据、遥感数据、基于过程的作物模型模拟结果以及作物保险记录——以评估1982年至2019年间美国境内骤发性干旱对夏季作物(玉米、大豆、高粱、春小麦)的影响。
