Here, we collected twenty-four sediments samples over a 5,500 km transect of western Antarctica that spans the Ross Sea up to the Weddle Sea. Diversity data from all three domains of life were collected via next-generation DNA sequencing and numerous geochemical and nutrient data were also collected, which greatly contributes to the existing understanding of benthic Antarctic sediments communities.

本研究沿横贯南极西部、跨度达5500千米的样带采集了24份沉积物样品，该样带覆盖罗斯海（Ross Sea）至威德尔海（Weddle Sea）。研究借助下一代DNA测序（next-generation DNA sequencing）技术获取了覆盖生命三大域的多样性数据，同时还采集了多组地球化学与营养盐数据，这极大地深化了学界对南极底栖沉积物群落的现有认知。
