长期以来,种种因素导致学者们对青藏高原确切范围的认识与理解存在差异。作者(2002)根据相关领域研究的新成果和多年野外实践,论证确定青藏高原范围和界线的原则,结合信息技术方法对青藏高原范围与界线位置进行了精确的定位和定量分析,得出:青藏高原在中国境内部分西起帕米尔高原,东至横断山脉,南自喜马拉雅山脉南缘,北迄昆仑山—祁连山北侧。结合新的矢量数据分析,青藏高原范围为25°59′37″N~39°49′33″N,73°29′56″E~104°40′20″E,边界总长度为11,745.96km,面积为2,542.30×103平方公里。鉴于2002年的条件,《论青藏高原范围与面积》一文的矢量数据没有渠道与论文同步发表,现借中科院地理资源所启动的科学数据出版平台,将更新后的数据公开出版,以便大家获取、引用和应用此数据。

For a long time, various factors have led to divergent understandings among scholars regarding the exact extent of the Tibetan Plateau. In 2002, based on new research findings in relevant fields and years of fieldwork, the author demonstrated the principles for defining the extent and boundaries of the Tibetan Plateau, and conducted precise positioning and quantitative analysis of the locations of the Plateau's extent and boundaries using information technology methods. The study concluded that within Chinese territory, the Tibetan Plateau stretches from the Pamir Plateau in the west to the Hengduan Mountains in the east, from the southern margin of the Himalayas in the south to the northern foothills of the Kunlun–Qilian Mountains in the north. Combined with new vector data analysis, the spatial scope of the Tibetan Plateau is determined to be between 25°59′37″N and 39°49′33″N, and 73°29′56″E and 104°40′20″E, with a total boundary length of 11,745.96 km and an area of 2,542.30×10³ km². Given the constraints of the publishing environment in 2002, the vector data accompanying the paper *On the Extent and Area of the Tibetan Plateau* could not be published simultaneously with the article. Now, via the scientific data publishing platform launched by the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the updated dataset is being officially published to enable public access, citation, and application of this data.
