This dataset centers on the genetic variation patterns and constraints of functional traits. It introduces and applies the Simple Basis Analysis (SBA) method, which leverages genetic variance-covariance (G) matrices to identify biologically interpretable directions of genetic variation and constraints, and compares the similarities and differences between these results and the eigenvectors derived from principal component analysis (PCA). Furthermore, it applies this method to G matrices from 10 studies investigating thermal performance curves and growth curves, aiming to reveal the characteristics of genetic variation and their underlying constraints.
