A Single-Molecule Magnet with a “Twist”

The deliberate structural distortion of a Mn6 compound via the use of a bulky salicylaldoxime derivative switches the intra-triangular magnetic exchange from antiferromagnetic to ferromagnetic resulting in an S = 12 ground state.通过采用大位阻水杨醛肟衍生物对六锰（Mn₆）化合物进行精准结构畸变，可将其三角亚单元内的磁交换相互作用从反铁磁性转变为铁磁性，最终得到自旋量子数S=12的基态。
