Seagrass Site-Level Production on BC Central Coast (Copy)

The Seagrass Site-Level Production dataset is a component of Hakai Institute’s Nearshore research and monitoring program, designed to determine the drivers of change in seagrass ecosystems. The overarching objective of Hakai Nearshore research is to investigate the role of habitats and their associated communities, in the face of stress and disturbances from global climate change and local coastal perturbations.

This data package contains seagrass (Zostera marina) primary production observations collected from May 2015 to August 2022, at long-term seagrass meadow monitoring sites on British Columbia’s Central Coast. SCUBA divers collected data from 9 sites annually and 1-3 sites seasonally along permanent 30m transects. Primary productivity data was collected during two concurrent, but separate surveys (i.e., different parameters, methodologies, and sample designs). The data files included in this data package are: 1) ‘Habitat’ surveys, focused on landscape-level habitat variables (e.g., substrate type, subdominant vegetation, adjacent habitat types, seagrass patchiness), and 2) ‘Density’ surveys measuring seagrass specific variables at a finer scale (e.g., seagrass shoot density, and canopy height). Data included here are a subset of the Hakai Institute’s seagrass monitoring dataset.

This data package is freely available to everyone, following the principles of equitable access and benefit sharing. However, we expect all data users to give attribution to the data providers (read our data license) and the use of these data should happen in the light of fair use, i.e.: 1) respect the data providers, and provide helpful feedback on data quality, and 2) communicate and/or collaborate with the providers if you are considering using this dataset for manuscripts or other forms of reporting.

样地尺度海草生产力数据集是哈卡伊研究所（Hakai Institute）近岸研究与监测项目的组成部分，旨在探明海草生态系统变化的驱动因子。哈卡伊研究所近岸研究的核心目标，是探究在全球气候变化与本地海岸扰动带来的胁迫与干扰背景下，栖息地及其附属群落所发挥的生态作用。

本数据包涵盖2015年5月至2022年8月期间，在不列颠哥伦比亚省中部海岸的长期海草床监测样地获取的大叶藻（Zostera marina）初级生产力观测数据。研究人员通过水肺潜水，沿永久性30米样带开展数据采集：每年对9个样地进行常规监测，同时季节性对1至3个样地开展补充调查。本次初级生产力数据通过两项同步开展但相互独立的调查获取（二者采用不同的观测参数、研究方法与采样方案）。本数据包包含两类数据文件：1）「生境调查」数据，聚焦景观尺度生境变量（如底质类型、次优势植被、相邻生境类型及海草斑块分布特征）；2）「密度调查」数据，以更精细的尺度测量海草专属变量（如海草茎枝密度与冠层高度）。本次收录的数据为哈卡伊研究所海草监测数据集的子集。

本数据包遵循公平获取与利益共享原则，面向所有群体免费开放。但我们要求所有数据使用者需注明数据提供者（详见数据使用许可协议），且数据使用需遵循合理使用规范，具体包括：1）尊重数据提供者，并可就数据质量提供建设性反馈；2）若计划将本数据集用于学术论文或其他形式的成果汇报，需与数据提供者沟通或开展合作。
