[Description of methods used for collection/generation of data] Body mass, elytra area, elytra thickness and the proportion of darkness in the elytra of ten specimens from seven Onthophagus species were determined (n=70). Each specimen was subjected to spectrophotometric analysis on the external side of the left elytron using a Shimazu UV-2600 spectrophotometer, measuring light reflectance, transmittance and absorbance across the 185-1400 nm wavelenght spectrum at 5 nm intervals. The internal side of each elytron were also measured but only in the near-infrared range (NIR)

[数据收集/生成所用方法说明] 本研究对7个嗡蜣螂属(Onthophagus)物种的各10个标本(总样本量n=70)的体质量、鞘翅(elytra)面积、鞘翅厚度及鞘翅黑化比例进行了测定。针对每一份标本,采用岛津(Shimazu)UV-2600分光光度计,于左侧鞘翅外表面开展分光光度分析,测定185~1400 nm波长范围内、间隔5 nm的光反射率、透光率与吸光度。此外,本研究还对每个鞘翅的内表面进行了测定,但仅覆盖近红外(NIR)波段。
