[Problem] To provide a wrapping paper in which, when the wrapping paper is held to light, a contrast between a watermarked part and a non-watermarked part is visible and the watermarked part looks beautiful so as to achieve an excellent design effect and which also has excellent cushioning properties. [Solution] The wrapping paper according to the present invention, which is obtained by subjecting a natural pulp and an olefin-based synthetic pulp to mixed paper-making, has a watermarked part, said watermarked part having a higher light transmittance than a surrounding part thereof and containing no or less pulp compared with the surrounding part. The basis weight of the wrapping paper according to the present invention is preferably 30 g/m2 or less. The wrapping paper according to the present invention is manufactured through a step for subjecting a dispersion of the natural pulp and the synthetic pulp to paper-making to thereby give a wet paper web and then drying the wet paper web. In the wet paper web before drying, a part, which contains no or less pulp compared with a surrounding part thereof, is formed.
