Response of the thermoacidophilic Archaeon Sulfolobus acidocaldarius to solvent stress

In this study, we used S. acidocaldarius adapted to two extremes, low pH and high temperature, to study its tolerance and robustness as well as its global cellular response towards organic solvents exemplified by 1-butanol. We were able to identify biofilm formation as primary cellular response to 1-butanol.

本研究选取适应低pH与高温两种极端环境的嗜酸硫化叶菌（S. acidocaldarius），旨在探究其对有机溶剂的耐受性与鲁棒性，以及以1-丁醇（1-butanol）为代表的有机溶剂所诱导的全局细胞应答反应。本研究成功鉴定出生物膜形成是其应对1-丁醇的核心细胞应答。
