In this study, we analyzed the contents and isotopic compositions of BC in surface sediments from 22 lakes across China. The BC contents ranged from 0.02 to 0.70% and the BC/TOC ratio ranged from 3.1% to 24.6%. Our findings based on δ13C and Δ14C data indicate that fossil fuel combustion is the primary source of sediment BC, contributing 28% to 91% (average 73%), with the highest in in the most developed eastern China and the lowest in the less developed southwestern and northwestern China (QTP and IMXP). The highest BC burial rates were observed in the NEP and YGP, followed by the EP and QTP, with the IMXP exhibiting the lowest rates. As of 2014, the total BC burial flux in Chinese lakes was estimated to be 122.2 Gg yr-1, which is comparable to the BC burial fluxes in China's offshore regions. However, due to the smaller lake area, Chinese lakes exhibit substantially higher BC burial rates per unit area than marginal seas and deep oceans, making them an important sink for BC.

本研究针对全国22个湖泊的表层沉积物中的黑碳(Black Carbon, BC)含量与同位素组成展开分析。研究区内BC含量介于0.02%~0.70%之间,BC/总有机碳(Total Organic Carbon, TOC)比值范围为3.1%~24.6%。基于碳稳定同位素比值(δ¹³C)与放射性碳同位素偏差(Δ¹⁴C)数据得到的研究结果显示,化石燃料燃烧是沉积物中BC的主要来源,其贡献占比为28%~91%(平均占比73%);其中,中国东部经济最发达区域的BC贡献占比最高,而欠发达的西南与西北地区(即青藏高原Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, QTP和内蒙古-新疆区域Inner Mongolia-Xinjiang Region, IMXP)的贡献占比最低。BC埋藏速率最高的区域为东北平原(Northeast China Plain, NEP)与扬子江平原(Yangtze River Plain, YGP),其次为东部平原(Eastern Plain, EP)与青藏高原(QTP),内蒙古-新疆区域(IMXP)的BC埋藏速率最低。截至2014年,中国湖泊的BC总埋藏通量估算为122.2吉克/年(Gg yr⁻¹),与中国近海区域的BC埋藏通量相当。但由于湖泊总面积相对较小,中国湖泊单位面积的BC埋藏速率显著高于边缘海与深海,因此是黑碳的重要汇。
