An outbreak of Legionnaires disease in the Netherlands

Legionella are bacteria that can cause a serious lung infection known as Legionnaires disease. People can get infected when they breathe in tiny water droplets contaminated with the bacteria. In September and October 2022, 15 cases of LD were reported in and around the town of Houten, the Netherlands. An investigation was started to find and control the source of infection.军团菌（Legionella）是一类可引发严重肺部感染的细菌，该感染被称为军团病（Legionnaires' disease，以下简称LD）。当人们吸入被该类细菌污染的微小水飞沫时，便可能发生感染。2022年9月至10月期间，荷兰豪滕（Houten）镇及其周边区域共报告15例LD病例。相关机构随即启动调查，以定位并管控感染源头。
