The aim of this study was to characterise from a genetic point of view a collection of isolates of S. Napoli in order to clarify its epidemiology which differs substantially from the great majority of the other serovars.

S. Napoli was responsible for several outbreaks associated to the consumption of Italian food products. Most isolates of S. Napoli are from humans and environment and strains from animals and food are rare. Several studies tried to infer the sources of infection for this serovar, however the reservoir and transmission pathways are still unknown.

那不勒斯沙门氏菌(S. Napoli)曾引发多起与意大利食品消费相关的暴发疫情。该血清型的绝大多数分离株均分离自人类与环境样本,来自动物及食品的菌株则较为罕见。已有多项研究尝试推断该血清型的感染来源,但其天然储存宿主与传播途径仍未明确。
