Results of an internal survey on the publication of code at the JKI

This dataset presents the anonymized results of a comprehensive online survey (https://ilias.julius-kuehn.de/ilias.php?baseClass=ilobjsurveygui&cmd=infoScreen&ref_id=1703) conducted among scientific and technical staff, doctoral students, and visiting scientists at the Julius Kühn Institute (JKI) in July-August 2025. The survey investigated practices, barriers, needs, and motivations concerning code publication at JKI. Topics include code usage and sharing, documentation standards, knowledge of persistent identifiers, hosting preferences, and institutional requirements. Both quantitative questions (single- and multiple-choice, Likert scales) and qualitative questions (free text) are included. The dataset offers evidence to inform JKI’s policy development and support services for open science and research software publication.
