Raw reads from a time series of microbial mats from Archaean Domes, Cuatro Cienegas PART I

Cuatro Cienegas Basin is an endangered oasis with several ponds, rivers and springs within northern Mexico that has been proposed as a relictual site of a marine origin. During late March 2016, an unusual spring rain dissolved the salty crust of a pond we had not noticed before, allowing a microbial mat with a very unusual flexible bubble-containing superficial layer to emerge. These time series metagenome collection will allow various studies on the ecology, diversity and temporal changes within the community of this newly discovered microbial mat.

夸特罗·谢内加斯盆地（Cuatro Cienegas Basin）是墨西哥北部一处濒危绿洲，境内分布有多处池塘、河流与泉眼，曾被提出为海洋起源的孑遗遗址。2016年3月下旬，一场罕见的春雨溶解了一处此前未被我们留意的池塘的盐壳，使得一层带有极不寻常的含柔性气泡表层的微生物垫得以显露。本次时间序列宏基因组（metagenome）采集数据集，将为该新发现微生物垫群落的生态学特性、物种多样性及时间动态变化等各类研究提供支持。
