DHW stands for degree-heating-weeks, the integral of sea surface temperature (SST) elevated above the maximum climatological mean over time (°C·week). The temperature variability metric is the standard deviation of the maximum monthly SST from 1985–2000 scaled such that the mean for the world's coral reefs is 1°C [16].

DHW即升温度日周（degree-heating-weeks，DHW），指海表温度（sea surface temperature，SST）超出气候学最大平均值的部分随时间的积分，计量单位为摄氏度·周（°C·week）。本次采用的温度变异性指标为1985—2000年期间月最大海表温度的标准差，该指标经缩放处理后，全球珊瑚礁的平均值为1°C [16]。
