This dataset documents the regional construction status of the Upper and Middle Reaches of the Yangtze River Shelterbelt Project as recorded in the 2000 National Forestry Statistics. The included metrics are as follows: region, total actual investment completed in the current year, state investment (a subset thereof), actual investment broken down by structure: construction and installation works, purchase of equipment, tools and appliances, total other expenses, subtotal of artificial afforestation costs, converted farmland afforestation costs (a subset thereof), aerial seeding afforestation costs, slash renewal costs, mountain closure and forest protection costs, seed and seedling costs, tending costs, total financial appropriations and loans in the current year, total state budgetary funds, national debt funds (a subset thereof), local funds, domestic loans, utilized foreign capital, self-raised funds, other funds, mass labor input, total afforestation area completed in the current year, subtotal of artificial afforestation by afforestation method, converted farmland afforestation (a subset thereof), aerial seeding afforestation by afforestation method, subtotal of timber forests by forest category and purpose, fast-growing and high-yield timber forests (a subset thereof), economic forests, shelterbelts, fuelwood forests, special purpose forests, slash renewal area, low-yield forest transformation area, total actual mountain closure and forest conservation area at year-end, newly closed area in the current year (a subset thereof), total nursery area, newly cultivated nursery area in the current year (a subset thereof), middle-aged and young forest tending area.
