.This series comprises all the documentation relating to policy, guidelines, procedures and standards created by the EDP Policy Committee.This series documents the development of electronic data processing (EDP) within the Victorian Public Service during the period 1965-1983.An EDP Policy Committee was initially established in December 1962 and was called the EDP Policy Group. The group was represented by the Chairman of the Public Service Board, (VA 886), Director of Finance and the Auditor General.This group was established to plan and co-ordinate the introduction of electronic data processing in a Service wide basis. The development of computing in the Public Service was guided and controlled by the EDP Policy Committee.An EDP Steering Committee considered the EDP proposals and made recommendations to the Policy Group.The committees met from 1962 to 1969 and made recommendations for the setting up and operation of the Electronic Data Processing Centre (which became the Govt. Computing Centre).From 1969 to April 1978, the Chairman of the Public Service Board, the Secretary of the Department of the Premier, and the Director of Finance met as an adhoc EDP Policy Committee.From April 1978 the EDP Policy Committee resumed meeting on a regular basis, and in February 1979, the Director General of the Department of Property and Services was added to the Committee due to the transfer of the EDP Centre to that Department.Also, the Chief Computer Adviser was appointed at this time as the Executive Officer of the Committee and Chairman of the EDP Consultative Committee.System of Arrangement/Control.There is no system of arrangement and control as this is an artificially created series.

电子数据处理指导委员会（EDP Steering Committee）负责审议电子数据处理相关提案，并向政策小组提交建议。该委员会于1962年至1969年间履职，为电子数据处理中心（后更名为政府计算中心）的设立与运营提供了决策建议。
1969年至1978年4月，由公共服务委员会主席、首相部秘书与财政主管组成临时电子数据处理政策委员会开展工作。1978年4月起，电子数据处理政策委员会恢复定期会议；1979年2月，因电子数据处理中心划归物业与服务部管辖，该部门总干事正式加入委员会。
同期，首席计算机顾问被任命为该委员会执行干事，并兼任电子数据处理咨询委员会（EDP Consultative Committee）主席。
