Digital Transformation in Education: Combining Digital Twin, Metaverse, and Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Development Goals

Developments in the digital landscape, particularly within the field of education, are progressing at an increasingly accelerated rate. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, numerous educational institutions have adapted their instructional practices, transitioning from conventional face-to-face learning models to online-based learning environments. One of the most significant emerging concepts is the evolution of digital classrooms and Virtual Learning Environments (VLE), which have moved beyond functioning solely as e-learning platforms and have developed into immersive learning ecosystems that integrate advanced technologies such as Digital Twin (DT), Metaverse-based Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR), and Artificial Intelligence (AI). This article, entitled Digital Transformation in Education: Integrating Digital Twin, Metaverse, and Artificial Intelligence For Sustainable Development Goals, aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the contribution of digital classrooms and VLEs to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), as well as their implications for SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). Furthermore, the results demonstrate that digital transformation in education should not be perceived merely as technological innovation but rather as a strategic instrument for establishing an inclusive, sustainable, and globally competency-oriented educational system.
数字领域的发展,尤其是教育领域的变革,正以日益加快的速度推进。新冠疫情暴发后,众多教育机构调整了教学实践模式,从传统的面对面教学转向线上学习环境。其中最具影响力的新兴概念之一,便是数字课堂与虚拟学习环境(Virtual Learning Environments, VLE)的演进:这类平台早已不再仅作为在线学习平台存在,而是发展为融合数字孪生(Digital Twin, DT)、基于元宇宙的虚拟与增强现实(Metaverse-based Virtual and Augmented Reality, VR/AR)以及人工智能(Artificial Intelligence, AI)等前沿技术的沉浸式学习生态系统。本文题为《教育数字化转型:整合数字孪生、元宇宙与人工智能助力可持续发展目标》,旨在深入分析数字课堂与虚拟学习环境对实现可持续发展目标(Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs)的贡献,尤其是对可持续发展目标4(优质教育)的支撑作用,同时探讨其对可持续发展目标8(体面工作与经济增长)以及可持续发展目标10(减少不平等)的潜在影响。此外,研究结果表明,教育数字化转型不应仅被视作技术创新,而应作为构建包容性、可持续且面向全球胜任力的教育体系的战略工具。
